| My name is Debbie and I live in Hampshire.
I have kept mammals since my mid-teens but did not get my first chinchilla (a lovely standard grey called Gizmo) until 1990. In 1992 I bred my first kit who I still own to this day (together with his 19 year old father).
I have written on chinchilla health issues for the CFPNP Rescue's magazine in the mid nineties - before the days of internet (now sadly no longer published). I have also written for Fur & Feather Magazine on all chinchilla-related topics for several years before handing-over to a fellow chinchilla-breeder and good friend - Claire Davidson www.davidsonchinchillas.co.uk . This involved a lot of research, as well as referring to my own experiences, which I found of great interest.
I have been a member of The National Chinchilla Society UK since 1996 and I enjoy showing some of the chinchilla's I breed, with success.
Nowadays I consider myself to be a "specialist", but small-scale breeder of high-quality violet chinchillas, albeit on a very small, non-profit scale. My aim is to improve and develop this beautiful mutation.
My other interests include keeping and breeding corn snakes and keeping all kinds of invertibrates (spiders, lepidoptera, etc) and riding my beloved Kawasaki ZX6R, when I get the time.
I am always happy to give advice or just to simply "chin-chat" and I can be contacted on the following email address:
